Parmele Law Location in Liberty, MO
Liberty was settled in 1822 and incorporated in 1829. It has a unique legal history with David Rice Atchison establishing a law office in Liberty in 1830. With his colleague — William Doniphan — the lawyers argued cases defending the rights of Mormon settlers in Jackson County, served Northwest Missouri in Missouri’s General Assembly, and labored for the addition of the Platte Purchase to Missouri’s boundaries.
Not far from our office, the Jesse James gang allegedly committed the first daytime bank robbery in the United States during peacetime in February 1866. Our office is located across the street from the Second Baptist Church — which has been in Liberty for over 150 years — and not far from William Jewell College. William Jewell College was founded in 1849 by the Missouri Baptist Convention and other civic leaders — including the father of Frank and Jesse James. During the American Civil War the college was used as a hospital, infirmary, and stables for the United States Army and Union troops were buried on the campus.
Parmele Law Firm’s Liberty office is located two blocks east of the Historic Liberty Downtown at 214 E. Kansas, Suite 102, Liberty, Missouri. Our office resides in the former Petty Bros., Feed Store building, which was built in the late 19th century and remodeled for our Parmele Office in 2011.
